Median wealth is the best indicator of a typical wealth. Average wealth paints too rosy pictures because few extremely rich can increase the average a lot.

Median / Average tells how many percentages the median wealth is from the average wealth.

  • High percentage means that most people have similar amounts of wealth.
  • Low percentage means that most people are “not-that-wealthy” and some are very high net worth individuals.

Wealth is a touchy subject, it’s neither “right” or “wrong” but it’s interesting and eye-opening subject to research. It gives perspective for the pursuit of wealth.
